Some Christians think the Bible is literally true & others figuratively true.Would Jesus scoff at both version?

I bet if he could read the New Testament he'd laugh and laugh and giggle and laugh, then weep bitterly that even the book version would be so wrong and cause so much suffering.Some Christians think the Bible is literally true %26amp; others figuratively true.Would Jesus scoff at both version?
He probably would not like any current bible,also scoff means to scorn, mock or ridicule. So he wouldn't scoff at them.

True = True, False = False

reason #1

every bible reproduced has been misinterpreted and mistranslated

reason #2

they're also in incorrect grammar and out of context.

also the way to heaven or hell isn't a simple two way road/being one way or the other ,physical deeds and spiritual deeds like 2 sides of the same coin except spiritual is more important, the house of God is in the Soul not any earthly man-made placeSome Christians think the Bible is literally true %26amp; others figuratively true.Would Jesus scoff at both version?
Given that Jesus as portrayed by the Gospels most likely did not exist, it is rather pointless to speculate about what he would hypothetically scoff at or not as believers will claim that Jesus would have supported their belief.

The problem remains, if the Bible is literally true, it is not supported by evidence and thus is not true. But if the Bible is a metaphor then it it leaves its teachings open to widely diverse interpretations and can not claim to be divinely inspired or any different than any other holy text.
Saying the Bible is figuratively true is ridiculous. How can anyone think a loving God would play guessing games with what is (apparently) the most important message. Where talking about heaven or hell here. Now, saying the Bible is literally true is laughable at best. Therefore it is no different than any other ancient myth.
The truth is, most of it is to be taken literal. But there are some verses that are to be taken figuratively. However, the context or wording make it clear when it is to be taken this way. Otherwise, it should be taken literal.

I really don't think that a Holy God, giving us His Word that gives us the plan of Life and Death, would write it in such a way that it is to be taken figuratively and left to individual interpretation.

I truly believe that God told us what He wanted us to know, exactly how He wanted to say it, and He protected it so that we can be sure it is still God's Word today.
A few Muslims are fundamentalists.

A few Christians are fundamentalists.

A few Jews are fundamentalists.

Fundamentalism is a religious movement or point of view characterized by a return to fundamental principles, by rigid adherence to those principles, and by intolerance of other views.

This is the same trap that the Pharisees of Jesus' time had fallen into.

WWJD? What would Jesus do?

Jesus did not take the Jewish Scriptures (Old Testament) literally like the small minority of Pharisees did.

In fact, Jesus chided the Pharisees over this too literal interpretation.

Jesus was not a fundamentalist.

The Catholic Church has never left her fundamental principals so she cannot return to them in a movement of fundamentalism. The Catholic Church also supports freedom of religion for all.

With love in Christ.
Both are committing the unpardonable sin.

Firstly, the bible is a book on salvation through and through, and its spiritual. All who read it must read in in this context.

John 3:3-5 means, ';If someone wants to be born again, they should be born of water and the Spirit. Here water means the baptism of Jesus, which does away with all the sins of the world once and for all. The Spirit means that Jesus who received baptism from John the Baptist is God Himself.”
I believe it figuratively. If you take everything in that book seriously, well, you're end up like Glen Beck. I'm sure what Jesus wants is the general idea that comes out of the bible, which is loving your neighbor, charity, helping others, etc.
No

Jesus does not scoff

Jesus is King of Kings and Lord of Lords

The Bible is Gods word for all/ everyone

In this Bible Jesus said( I am the WAY, I am the TRUTH,I am the LIFE, No one comes to the Father but by ME.)

Should one no receive this word as literal truth in any form , they risk their eternal Life.

peace

your friend
Actually it is both at times. It takes some studying and a Strong's concordance and a little help from the Holy Spirit to figure out which it is. edit ,, it is not literal and figurative at the same time but is figurative at times and literal at times.
Those who believe trust the Holy Spirit to guide them and teach them what is true. all the clever interpretation in the world won't clear your mind.

This is what makes the difference of a real Christian from those who are not,and so we put our trust in God. Faith is the Key and Spiritual Love is the way.%26lt;%26gt;
the only way to under stand the bible is to have a Strong's concordance because the bible was righting in aramaic and greek the english language is a broken language .example air in the bible in english Meens air but in greek it Meens 2 dimensional world
No. Because he used symbolic language himself several times throughout the Bible. For example: ';This is my body...and this is my blood.';
I'm sure Jesus will come again to finish his business... and that includes, reediting the bible in its original form(injeel)... and interpreting it.^,^

peace!!
I don't think anyone can know. We're not Jesus.

Unless Jesus likes surfing Yahoo Questions.
jesus wouldnt exactly scoff at anyone i dont think. but good luck finding him on yahoo answers, thats the only way you;; ever get to find out
';scoff, scoff';
Jesus is the Truth and the Light and would only support the Truth.....
He probably wouldn't scoff at either one. He'd just set everyone straight.
Not so long as both sides worship him.
No, no one has every thing right and we never will.
