I think being a true story make movies much better. Which ones are the best??What are the best movies that are true stories, or based on a true story?
Here are some I like that are based on True stories. They're all inspirational on some level.





Apollo 13





Mask (1985, with Cher)





The Scarlet and the Black





Swing Kids (the exact characters in the movie are fictitious, but the movie deals with a ';movement'; that really did exist)





The Crucible (fictionalized with a romance story that isn't true, but the actual events (salem witch trials) Names, dates, etc, are all true)





Hidden in Silence (AWESOME STORY.. movie has a slightly low-budget feel to it, but VERY accurately tells the true story.. aLOT less ';dressing up'; than hollywood usually does to a true story) Might be hard to find. But if you ever see it coming on TV.. watch it!!














What are the best movies that are true stories, or based on a true story?
I just going to mention 'Valley of Elah' becuase its fresh on my mind(watched it 2 nigths ago). It starts Charlize Theron and Tommy Lee Jones. Its about a young soldier that comes back from Iraq and goes missing. His father and a dedicated police officer try to figure out what happened.
BAsed on a true story, as you can tailor the script to what you need it to be, rather than the full and complete story, which may not be all that exciting
David Lynch's film ';The Straight Story'; about one man's journey, by ride-on lawnmower, to go and see his sick friend who lives in another state.
