Why is it the more we find out about true awareness the less true the beliefs of god becomes as were told?

There may very well be a god but a god like we were taught or are still being taught is highly unlikely.Why is it the more we find out about true awareness the less true the beliefs of god becomes as were told?
Because some people are stubborn and arrogant, also current abrahamic religions are big money and power players, i really doubt weather all those at the top definitely recognise or even follow their religion as the whole truth, but if its making them money and helping them keep control of their 'flock' (wich kind of sums up the whole system) or even their country i doubt they want to change it.
