How do you decide what is true and what is not true in your life?

How do *you* determine what the truth is and when you have found it?How do you decide what is true and what is not true in your life?
I'm assuming you mean big truths. Several things. First, it has to be reasonable. Second, it has to resonate with what I already hold to be true or be so fresh and striking that it's like a light turned on. Third, my inner sense has to accept it.How do you decide what is true and what is not true in your life?
That varies depending on what you are talking about. Scientific truth (proof) applies to a specific and precisely defined class of questions based on an epistemology of objective human knowledge derived from empirical evidence.

In most aspects of everyday social, political, and personal life, truth is a complex, non-linear, imprecise, poorly defined concept that varies over time and space.

To believe otherwise - in black and white absolute truths - is to be doomed to a life of stupid ideas, lame decisions, and operational failure (e.g., the Bush-Cheney Administration; and everyone who relies on simplistic religious, political, economic, sociocultural, geopolitical, etc belief systems as legitimate explanatory models of the real world).
Consider the evidence I have for it and compare it to other things I hold to be true to make sure it's all consistent. Pretty straightforward, really, though somewhat tricky.
research everything, accept nothing without absolute knowledge. question everything. never leave so much as a centimeter dark in my life and decisions about what's real.
Observe, evaluate, test, and accept.
1st hand evidence, logic and experience.

Evidence.
Logic and common sense.
The bible is truth, and your answers are in it.
Compare it to God's holy word, the Bible.
