I just got finished watching The Strangers and I heard that just because it's inspired by a true story doesn't mean it's true. So what's the difference??What is the difference between based on a true story and inspired by a true story?
';Based on'; means it's totally made up and ';Inspired by'; means it's completely made up.What is the difference between based on a true story and inspired by a true story?
An event was just an inspiration for the piece of work you just saw. Not a single thing in the work has to be true, but it can still have its inspiration drawn from real life. Movies tend to be more inspired than based on real facts.
based on really means that they try to stick to the facts but inspired by means that the story encouraged the person to make the movie
';Based on'; means they try to stick to the basic facts. ';Inspired by'; means they take the root of the story and do with it whatever they want.
