True or false? is it true when you move to italy that you still have to get your driving licenses?

Ok I was watching a movie and they said''when you wanna drive something in italy(like a car) you don't have to get your driving license's'' is it true?True or false? is it true when you move to italy that you still have to get your driving licenses?
No it's not true. Whether you're in Italy for a vacation or as a resident, you need a driving licence. If you're from the European Union (EU) countries there is an EU licence which covers you in any country in the EU.

If you're from the USA or any country outside the EU you will need to get an international driving licence, or as a tourist you can use your US licence officially translated into Italian by the Italian Touring Club.

This link will take you to the US Embassy website which describes how to do it.

If you move to Italy from another country and don't have a driving licence, you can only get one when you become an Italian resident and take your test. Equally you can't buy a car in Italy until you are a resident. The Italian driving test has a written test, a driving test and a medical examination.

You also need to keep all your driving documents - licence, insurance and car log - with you at all times in Italy. If you don't and you're stopped by the police they can impose an on the spot fine.

And if you're stopped and found not to have a driving licence at all you'll be in much more serious trouble.

Hope this helps you.True or false? is it true when you move to italy that you still have to get your driving licenses?
As a temporary guest or vacationer no.

As a long term resident yes.
